ADULT BEGINNER MSCR CLASSES

Fall 2022 class in action.HEIC

A Great Way to Learn!

Every fall and winter, teachers from Madison Scottish Country Dancers offer an 8-week evening course in Scottish country dancing through the Madison School and Community Recreation (MSCR) program. If you don't want to commit to 8 weeks, there is usually a "Try It!" one-night class as well. The cost is minimal, and the location is on the west side of Madison, behind West Towne Mall.

Once the course is completed, students are invited to attend a special graduation dance party (in the fall) or our annual ball (in the spring). This course of basics gives you the background to be a successful dancer at our regular Sunday night classes at the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center. If you already have some dance/music background, you may be able to attend Sunday classes without the MSCR course. Please ask us about attending at madisonscottishcountrydancers@gmail.com.

  • Will I need special shoes? Traditionally we wear ghillies, but any soft-soled dance shoe (or socks!) will do. No outdoor shoes please.

  • Do I have to have a Scottish background? No

  • But I've never danced before!  We'll teach you!

  • Am I too old/too young? We have adults of all ages, and the MSCR class allows for 14+ year-olds with an adult.
